Monologues about Sredmash

The movie tells about the beginning of the Russian nuclear project and its founders. Sometimes people used to say  that Sredmash was a state within the state. This definition was partially correct, because the atomic agency always took an especial place in our society. That was associated with the fact that Sredmash was the agency, where  nuclear weapons were developed. However,  Russian Sredmash and the US Department of Energy were very different in nature because Sredmash had never been concentrated on a narrow area, it carried on its shoulders the development of an essentially new industry, the industry that was science-driven, super-modern, the leading one. That is why the experience of addressing the history of the establishment, evolution and development of Sredmash is now invaluable: when we’re talking about innovation and economy modernization we  should remember the lessons of Sredmash. Sredmash is the name of prominent production managers, most distinguished national scientists, advanced technologies, skillful artisans and “the resolution of the problems that seems to be unresolvable…”. The whole Sredmash story is told from this standpoint, and this is a good way to share  the experience of a modern industry development that extends far beyond the boundaries of atomic industry.
